To the west of the town of Leibnitz, at the foot of Seggau Castle, the Laßnitz and Sulm rivers flow together. With the spatial clash of remnants of the floodplain landscape with alluvial forests and meadows with copses, the natural and cultural landscape mixes to form an area with a rich flora and fauna that can be experienced by bike.
The area is a Natura 2000 European protected area, as well as a recreational area of great value for people seeking relaxation and rich nature. Kingfishers can be spotted at the water's edge. The otter is a constant visitor, but you hardly ever see it. Other zoological features include the red-backed shrike, the collared flycatcher, the alpine crested newt, the stag beetle, the meadow ant-blue butterfly and the green dragonfly.
